ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Edith Nesbit (1858–1924), also known as E. Nesbit, was an English writer and poet who captivated young readers with her children's books.  Settling in Halstead, Kent, later became the inspiration for her beloved novel "The Railway Children." Nesbit began her writing career in the early 1880s and gained recognition as one of the earliest modern writers for children. Her extensive repertoire includes almost forty children's books, encompassing picture books, novels, and short stories. Popular works like "The Story of the Treasure Seekers," "The Wouldbegoods," "The Revolt of the Toys," and "The Railway Children" remain cherished classics in children's literature. Nesbit passed away on May 4, 1924, leaving behind a timeless legacy of widely read and appreciated works.
